Mr. Buchan serves as General Counsel to Texas Energy Holdings, Inc., and all affiliated companies including Texas Energy Operations, LC. He is responsible for all legal aspects of the Company, including energy acquisitions, securities, joint venture agreements, title review, joint operations and corporate contracts. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Buchan served as General Counsel to PanAmerican Operating, Inc., of Dallas, Texas and as General Counsel with Texas International Minerals & Development. He was in charge of all legal aspects of acquisitions, title, drilling and operations involving Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, North Dakota and United States, North America. After leaving Texas International Minerals, he also served in the telecommunications industry for three years as General Counsel for a National Market NASDAQ Company at their corporate headquarters in Dallas County, Texas. His responsibilities for both the public company and their parent corporation, CSI, involved supervision of legal operations in 15 states and approximately 45 jurisdictions.
In the oil and gas industry he has reviewed title and been involved in transactions including exploration contracts involving over 150,000 mineral acres in the continental United States. He is an expert on petroleum land titles, acquisitions and joint venture contracts. Priorto working for Texas International Minerals, Mr. Buchan was responsible for developing the oil and gas lease utilized for United States onshore leasing for Standard Oil of Ohio (Sohio Petroleum), a division of British Petroleum. After completing his legal education, Mr. Buchan also served with Cities Service Company (now Occidental Petroleum) wherein he was responsible for drafting of exploration and production contracts for the United States Regions. In addition to exploration and production areas, Mr. Buchan has been involved in private practice in Dallas, Texas in the areas of commercial litigation and securities disputes. He holds a Juris Doctorate and Bachelor of Science Degrees and has been licensed to practice before five different federal court jurisdictions including the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Mr. Buchan has resolved over 12 million dollars in commercial claims. Mr. Buchan was admitted to the Texas State Bar in 1985.
